Model: HO gauge DC. Car set 1 with three express train cars for the D 377 Hispania-Express of the Deutsche Bundesbahn. Consisting of a 2nd class compartment car, type Büm 234, a 1st class compartment car, type Aüm 203 and a semi-baggage car, type BDüm 273.
Cars as they were in the mid-seventies. First built Büm 234 without steam heating (22-70 001). First built BDüm 273 without steam heating (82-70 001). Carriage route Hamburg – Basel/Geneva. Finely detailed bogies.
Prototype: The Hispania-Express ran between Copenhagen from 1963, and then between Hamburg and Port Bou from 1969. From this point on, it was operated in Germany as an accelerated express train with a maximum speed of 160 km/h, as only TEE and F or IC trains otherwise could. The train is being recreated for the 1976/77 timetable year, as the Hispania had a particularly large number of 1st/2nd class (ABüm) carriages that year, the typical through coaches of the German Federal Railways. To reach 160 km/h, the carriages, which also included the first examples in ocean blue/beige, had to be equipped with magnetic rail brakes.
