Model: HO gauge DC. Oberammergau train set of the German Federal Railway. Consisting of the electric locomotive 169 005, a covered freight car, type Gs, a 4-axle stake car, type Rs, an open freight car, type E and a dump car, type F-z 120. Paintwork of the locomotive in faded operating condition with touch-up spots. Covered freight car with movable sliding doors.
Prototype: On January 24, 1905, electric operation began on the 23.7 km long track to the Ammer Valley. It was the first journey of an electric train under a simple AC overhead line. This made it the first route to be equipped with a new system, the traction current that is still used in Central and Northern Europe today. The route was initially operated with electric railcars, and later with small electric locomotives that could travel at speeds of up to 50 km/h. The energy, in the form of single-phase alternating current, came from the Kammerl hydroelectric power station on the Ammer. From 1930, the beefy LAG 5 – later 169 005 – reinforced the electric locomotive fleet on the Oberammergau Railway. Despite its length of only 8.7 m, the small powerhouse proved to be excellent.
For decades, the railway, with its coziness and idyllic surroundings of a Bavarian local railway, exerted a special charm on all railway enthusiasts. The time of the Neinasechzga in local transport on the Oberammergau Railway came to an end in May 1981. With the withdrawal of the old locomotives, regular operation took hold, and the charm of an incomparable era was irretrievably gone.
