Model: OO gauge DC. Version with road number 1914. Equipped with NEM coupler pockets, English hook couplers, sprung chassis, many extra applied details.
Prototype: Most of these tank cars were built between 1939 and 1944 as Class A cars for aviation fuel. They were 17 feet 6 inches long, had a 10 foot wheel base and were equipped with RCH brakes on both sides and split oil axle bearings. The tank was 7 feet 2 inches in diameter and held 4275 gallons. It was saddle mounted and had two small platforms on top of the tank. After the war and around 1947, surplus tank cars were converted to Class B cars and fitted with heating coils to facilitate the draining of viscous fuel and bottom emptying. All Class A tanks were taken out of service by 1971, with the last Class B tank following in 1973.
